FAQ

Products

Why organic?

To have our herbs with the most wonderful flavor and to maximize their beneficial properties, in our gray & green field, we never use chemicals, fertilizers, or insecticides. We work with respect for the land, and when faced with any “invasion,” we leverage scientific knowledge and our years of experience. We employ simple and effective methods, maintaining the balance of the ecosystem.

Why do your herbs cost so much?

Indeed, they cost more than the average commercially available herbs. However, honestly, it’s simply a matter of quality. We’ve studied it extensively, and there’s no way to produce organic herbs of such quality at a lower price per cup.

Is everything organic?

Yes. At grizo & prasino, there are no two product lines. Organic cultivation, for us, is a conscious choice and, primarily, a political act. It is a stance of responsibility towards our beliefs and the people who trust us.

Why don’t you have herbs in tea bags?

Each tea bag contains 2-3 grams of completely dried and finely chopped herbs. In fact, most of the time, the herbs are so finely chopped that they resemble brown-green powder. We believe that by not cutting or grinding the leaves or flowers of our herbs, which can dry out their natural oils, we help preserve their beneficial active substances.

We also believe in everyone’s uniqueness, including our taste preferences. This applies to our taste in flavor as well. We suggest experimenting with the quantity of herbs you use. Tea bags don’t allow for such experimentation.

Our passion is time—the time each person dedicates to themselves. To heat the water, smell the herbs, choose their cup, pour the water, taste the flavor, and ultimately enjoy the whole process.

Can you assure me that the consumption of your herbs is safe?

Every herb included in our packaging is produced with meticulous adherence to organic farming standards, with special emphasis on preserving all its components. We always say that herbs are and should be treated as medicines. We also believe that the effectiveness of herbs varies from person to person, just as we believe that there are no diseases but rather individuals with illnesses. Always consult your doctor when taking herbs to address health issues.

Is the consumption of herbs safe during pregnancy and breastfeeding?

Always consult your doctor before consuming herbal beverages during pregnancy and breastfeeding.

What is the shelf life of your herbs?

Oxidation begins immediately. From the first moment of exposure to air, the color and flavor slowly start to degrade. How quickly this happens naturally varies from herb to herb, depending on the time of harvest, plant maturity, processing undergone, humidity, atmospheric temperature, and a myriad of other factors. Since we swiftly transport the herbs from the field to our facilities, carefully dehydrate them in an electric dryer, controlling all critical parameters, and store them in airtight conditions under controlled environmental circumstances, they remain viable for 2 years.

How should I wash the utensils I purchased from your site?

Some parts of the utensils require hand washing. However, most of them are dishwasher safe. For details, refer to the information provided in the ‘Care’ section located at the bottom inside of each product.

How can I purchase the tea serving set used in the cafe?

You can’t. To experience this, you’ll have to visit your favorite coffee shop, restaurant, or hotel that serves grizo & prasino. Maybe we’ll meet in person at one of them.

Why are cultivated herbs preferred over wild ones?

When it comes to quality, the difference between cultivated and wild herbs can range from negligible to substantial. The same holds true between cultivated herbs or those collected from the wild. This is because factors such as the soil composition, watering methods, time and manner of harvesting, drying, and storage significantly influence the final product, whether it’s a result of cultivation or wild harvesting.

However, cultivated herbs have advantages over those found in the wild, as the cultivator can control the stages of plant growth, the field’s soil, irrigation, etc., and ensure, with the necessary knowledge, the ideal environment for plant development. As a result, we have herbs with consistently superior quality each year.

On the contrary, a wild herb collector has no margin for intervention during the plant growth stage and cannot guarantee the quality characteristics of the products they trade since these do not develop in a stable and controlled environment. In this context, the burden on wild herb populations from excessive and often harmful collection practices, as well as the lack of control in the production process, should be considered. Factors like who, when, how, and by whom the final product is checked, etc. All these parameters undoubtedly lead to the choice of cultivated, especially organic, herbs.

I bought two packages of grizo & prasino and noticed differences in taste. Why does this happen?

The most likely reason is that the packages contain herbs harvested at different times from each other. Herbs, like all agricultural products, often exhibit slight variations in their sensory characteristics, primarily due to the weather conditions prevailing during the harvest time and the harvesting technique employed.
